Apply For a Home

The homeowner application process is now open.  Anyone interested in applying for a home or a critical home repair may stop by the Administrative Office to pick up the application.
Do I qualify for a home?

To qualify for a Habitat home, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. You must have a NEED. You must have lived in Jefferson County for at least a year, and currently not qualify for financing from a bank; and/or your current living situation is overcrowded; and/or your house or apartment has major problems that your landlord will not fix.
  2. You must have the ABILITY TO PAY. You must be able to afford to pay up to $475/month on a no-interest mortgage. You must have not had a bankruptcy in two years. Your household income is between $17,000 and $47,000, depending on the number in your household.
  3. You must be WILLING TO PARTNER. You must be willing to perform 400 sweat equity hours (300 for a single head of household) by attending budget classes and other workshops, by working on the construction of your home and those of others, and by working at the Habitat ReStore.

If you meet these criteria, we invite you to apply for a home. Please email the Executive Director for more information.
