About Us

WHO WE ARE
Founded in 1987, Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a non-profit Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating sub-standard housing in Jefferson County, Tennessee.

WHAT WE DO
We work with families whose income is less than 60 percent of the area’s median household income. To qualify for home ownership, a family must demonstrate:
  1. a need for housing
  2. the ability to repay a 20-30-year, zero-interest mortgage
  3. work to build their homes and the homes of others; and attend home ownership classes to learn skills in home maintenance and financial management
No-interest loans and houses built by volunteer labor make mortgage payments affordable for lower-income families.

HOW WE WORK
We partner with individuals, churches, businesses and civic organizations who share our vision. These Covenant Partners provide some of the upfront cost of building homes. Their contributions, combined with homeowner mortgage payments and proceeds from our ReStore, create a revenue stream that enables Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity to build more houses and serve more families.

HABITAT'S VISION
A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

MISSION STATEMENT
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

NON-PROSELYTIZING POLICY
Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations will not proselytize. Nor will HFH work with entities or individuals who insist on proselytizing as part of their work with HFH. This means that HFH will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
