ReStore FAQs

Q: What is a Habitat ReStore?

A: Habitat’s ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used home and building materials to the community at a fraction of the retail price. All of the profits from the ReStore goes toward supporting our mission here at Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity.

Q: Where is the ReStore located?

A: The Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is located at 490 Hwy 92, Jefferson City, TN  37760.  Phone: 865-471-0069.  Hours are Monday-Friday – 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Q: Can I donate to the ReStores?

A: Yes. The ReStore accepts donations such as furniture, appliances, and building materials in good condition.
You can drop off items at the ReStore during normal business hours, or call (865) 471-0069.

Q: Why won’t you accept certain items as donations?

Though we greatly appreciate everyone who wants to donate to the Habitat ReStore, we are unable to accept all items. Sometimes, the reason is related to safety concerns (such as unframed glass and mirrors, lead paint, certain chemicals, etc.), and other times it is for legal reasons (such as used mattresses, baby equipment, etc.). Also, we have found that we just can’t sell certain items (such as couches that have rips and stains or appliances that are older than 7 years). In addition, we do not accept items that have pet/urine odors.   When we do end up with these types of items, nobody buys them and we have to pay to dispose of the things we cannot recycle, repair, or clean. This takes valuable time and money.

For a complete list of items that we will accept and not accept please click here. Our ReStore staff and volunteers will determine whether an item meets Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity's guildeines.
Q: What is your refund policy?
We will issue a refund for items that we are unable to test (i.e. washers/dryers, dishwashers, select electronics, etc.) within 7 days of purchase and presentation of receipt. All other sales are final. All refund requests will be handled by the ReStore managers and it is up to them whether the request falls under our refund policy.
