Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity is a community-based organization that relies on local volunteers to build homes, work in our ReStore and Warehouse. If you are considering giving back to your community through the donation of your time, we would love to have you on our team!Everyone has valuable skills and talents to contribute in support of our amazing mission.
How can you help? Volunteer.
The work we do in Jefferson County would not be possible without our dedicated volunteers. They are the foundation of our operation. No matter what your skills or interests, you can be a part of our mission to give deserving families a hand up to home ownership.
Volunteers are needed to work in the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and to help with the actual building of homes. Our ReStore is staffed by volunteers. The net income from the ReStore goes directly to building houses. Volunteer labor on homes keeps construction costs low, so that we are able to build more homes and to make affordable no-interest loans to qualified homeowners.
Work when you want, doing what you want.
You can make a difference.
As a ReStore volunteer, you can set your own schedule. Whether you prefer to volunteer several days a week or just one morning a month, we can use your help. A variety of jobs needs to be done to keep Habitat running smoothly. Here are just a few:
Cashier – help run cash register on a shift-by-shift basis (no experience necessary)
Cashier Assistant – work with cashier, bagging items and assisting customers
Warehouse Volunteer – assist with receiving donations and organizing merchandise
Merchandise Sorter – sort/price ReStore donations
Committee Member – assist in decisions by serving on a committee in areas such as Family Selection, Family Support, Events and the ReStore
Construction – assist in construction on Habitat build sites (must be at least 16 years of age)
And, of course, if you have a special talent or skill, we would love to talk to you about THAT!
Whether you are interested in working in the ReStore or helping to build a house, we hope that you will join us in our effort to serve the families of Jefferson County. We’re building more than homes… we’re building lives.
